IMMIGRATION-RELATED RESOURCES

For New London Residents

Welcome to the City of New London’s resource page on immigration-related matters. Our goal for this online space is to provide accurate, reliable information to support our immigrant neighbors, nonprofit service providers, City employees and departments, community organizations, faith groups, and others.

Michael J. Passero
Mayor, City of New London

For more than 400 years, as a diverse seaport community, New London has been strengthened by people who came here from somewhere else, including my own parents, and we continue to see our immigrant communities as an integral part of our New London family. New London is, and will remain, a city where every person is treated with equal respect and concern, no matter where they were born or what their immigration status may be. Our values are reflected in the way we govern: we follow the law, but we also insist that every resident is entitled to safety, due process, and basic human dignity, and we will not allow fear or misinformation to divide neighbors from one another.

Our role is to protect everyone who lives, works, and studies here, not to instill fear. In moments when federal enforcement actions have created anxiety in New London, we have reminded residents of their fundamental rights and worked with community partners to combat misinformation, because honoring the inherent humanity of each person is not just something we say—it is how we choose to act together as a city
